Full Radiation Water Test Kit

Recommended as a broad screen for radioactivity in drinking water from any source. This package is frequently recommended for people served by a private well.

This SimpleLab water test package provides all required materials to properly collect and submit a sample for certified laboratory testing. Reported results include analysis of Alpha Radiation and Beta Radiation from any source–including radium, uranium, cesium, and strontium, etc. While each of these individual sources can be tested and quantified individually, this broad radiological screen is recommended unless you already suspect a specific problem.

Alpha and beta radiation can be emitted by naturally-occurring radioisotopes of radon, uranium, radium, and other radioactive sources as well as by man-made radionuclides such as radioisotopes of strontium, and cesium. Long term exposure to low levels of radiation in drinking water is associated with increased cancer risk.

Note that this test does not individually identify the sources of radiation. If you have specific concerns about radon gas in particular, it is recommended that you test for radon specifically.

Note: If no total strontium is detected, then results are completed within 12 working days. If total strontium does include a detection, then subsequent analysis will continue in order to obtain a result for strontium-90. This second phase of analysis may require up to 3 weeks to obtain an accurate result.

What’s Inside Your Radiation Water Testing Kit?

• Sampling Instructions - Every test comes with step by step instructions on how to prepare your water source, collect your water sample, and prepare your sample for return shipment to our labs.
• Collection Bottles - Your kit includes all the bottles, tubes or vials necessary to collect your water sample. For most kits, however, there is only one collection bottle needed.
• Sample Information Card - Your kit includes a postcard that asks for a few details about how and where you collected your sample (i.e. kitchen faucet). Just fill it out, drop it in the return box, and we'll do the rest.
• Prepaid Shopping Label - Shipping is always on us. This package includes a prepaid return shipping label to the lab. Just stick the provided label on the outside of the box and drop it in the mail.
• Return Container (If Applicable) - Some of our tests require your water sample to be cold when it reaches our labs. If this applies to your test, the proper refrigeration items will be included.
